Dr Jacqueline Waldock
Jacqueline pursued her undergraduate studies in Music at Lancaster University, followed by her Master of Music (MMus) and PhD in Music at the University of Liverpool. Her career trajectory led her into the realm of consultancy and artistic work, specializing in community-engaged place-making practices. This path was marked by the production of several publicly funded artworks and compositions. In 2021, Jacqueline joined the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Liverpool as an Impact Fellow. Furthering her academic career, she embraced the role of Lecturer in the School of the Arts, Department of Music, in 2024.
Her research is anchored in sound studies, with a particular emphasis on place-making, sonic home, and sound mapping. Jacqueline's work is driven by pivotal interrelated questions exploring: How are sounds perceived and performed differently in communities and according to axes of identity? How is the making of sound a terrain of power and a transformative force? Jacqueline is an active member of the AHRC Peer Review College and serves as the interim Deputy Director of the Centre for Health Arts and Society (CHASE) at the University of Liverpool.
