Historical Geography Research Group - Wednesday 7 February
The RGS-IBG Historical Geography Research Group (HGRG) would like to invite expressions of interest for sponsored sessions for the RGS-IBG 2024 Annual Conference, which will take place at the RGS in London from Tuesday 27 August to Friday 30 August 2024.
The RGS-IBG are planning for an event with in-person, online, and hybrid options. The theme for the 2024 Annual Conference, chaired by Professor Stephen Legg (University of Nottingham) is Mapping. You can find out more about the conference and Chair’s theme here.
HGRG invites proposals for sessions or existing CFPs that will be sponsored by the Research Group. Session sponsorship means that a session is branded in the conference programme with the Research Group’s name, and gives the opportunity to promote the session through our Research Group networks. We invite proposals for session sponsorship that engage with the Chair’s theme, as well as others focusing on all areas of historical geography. We are happy to offer joint sponsorship as appropriate with other research groups. Please be aware that the number of hybrid sessions available at the conference this year is limited.
The HGRG has a small number of guest passes available to support the attendance of non-geographers based in the UK, and from either geographers or non-geographers overseas who may have difficulties in paying their registration fee. We are keen to make the most of these passes, and use them to support participants in our sponsored sessions. More information here.
If you would like to have your session sponsored by the HGRG, please submit your session proposal to HGRG Secretary Patrícia Silveira hgrg.conference@gmail.com by 7 February 2024.
Please include the following in your session proposal:
- Session title
- Names, affiliations and email addresses of the session convenors
- A session abstract (about 200-300 words)
- Number of required timeslots (1 or 2)
- Session Delivery (either in-person or virtual)
The committee will review the applications and we will inform session organisers of decisions by 19 February. Session proposals then need to be submitted directly to the RGS by the session organiser(s) by 1 March 2024, see here.
