Guide to accreditation for geospatial professionals
This short guide provides an introduction to professional recognition for geospatial professionals.
Location data has the potential to generate significant economic, social and environmental value globally through widespread adoption. Key to unlocking this value are skilled professionals from a wide range of backgrounds and working across many sectors.
There is no one-size-fits-all professional journey, nor one prescribed pathway for professional development and accreditation for geospatial professionals. This short guide provides an introduction to professional recognition for geospatial professionals across different domains.
The guide has been produced collaboratively by some of the key professional bodies involved in the geospatial sector, including the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors, Association for Geographic Information, Chartered Institute for IT and Institution of Royal Engineers. Please contact professional@rgs.org if there are other organisations or bodies that you would like to see included in any updated versions of the guide.
