Sophy is a British author and journalist based in West Dorset. Sophy focuses on travel stories in remote parts of the world, with a special interest in literature and history. Sophy's first non-fiction book, The Lost Pianos of Siberia, was published by Transworld in February 2020. It was named a Sunday Times ‘Book of the Year’. Sophy is currently working on a second non-fiction book about East and Central Africa for publication in 2024.
Sophy holds a first class degree from the University of Oxford, and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University. Sophy also hold an MSt in Creative Writing from the University of Oxford, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Photojournalism from the London College of Printing.
Sophy mentors emerging writers, and contribute to writing seminars at both the University of Oxford, and the University of Cambridge.
