Catherine is Head of Research and Higher Education at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).
Catherine has a BA (Hons) from University of Cambridge and an MSc and PhD in Geography from the University of British Columbia. Before returning to the UK, she was Associate Dean and Professor of Geography at Indiana University, Indianapolis. Catherine's own research focuses on records of environmental change from lake and wetland sediments.
In her role at the Society, she oversees the grants programme along with a range of other activities related to higher education and research.
