About
Blue Ventures works to rebuild fisheries and restore ocean life at scale, by building long-term relationships with like-minded partners who are already working closely with coastal communities. Their support infrastructure − training, technical assistance, data systems, mentoring and funding − assists their partners to restore wild seafood populations, create healthy ocean environments and improve the livelihoods of traditional fishers. They design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and governance at the community level. They also bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform, and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe. They started out in 2003, with one community in south west Madagascar. Today, they are working across 14 countries across the tropics, protecting more than 21,089 km2 of vital ocean habitat and impacting the lives of more than 754,000 people.
