Learning outside the classroom has always been an integral part of children’s education, providing the opportunity to develop key personal and social skills.

The role of the Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) is to help the school fulfil its health and safety obligations for off-site school visits by being involved in the planning and management of all educational visits.

This full day workshop supports EVCs in their roles by covering the legal and practical procedures required of their position, and providing the information that establishments need to manage off-site visits.

Course content

The course is for newly appointed EVCs and covers:

  • National guidance
  • Risk assessment and risk management
  • Assessing competence
  • Leadership and supervision
  • What the EVC needs to know
  • What the EVC needs to do

This course is primarily for independent and foundation schools as many local authorities have provision for EVC courses for their schools. However, if this is not the case for your school, you are most welcome to attend this course.

It is a national training course and transferable between employers. The course is accredited by the Outdoor Education Advisers’ Panel (OEAP) and training will make use of current government literature relating to school visits.
