Join the Yorkshire and North East committee and the Northumberland National Park for a lecture and guided walk in Hadrian's Wall Country, starting from the flagship visitor centre, The Sill.
Reflecting on the loss in 2023 of the Sycamore Gap tree - an event which made international headlines - Northumberland National Park Authority Chair Jean Davidson gives a personal account of the challenges of managing iconic landscapes and explores the role of focal points as 'gateways' for access and engagement. Her talk in The Sill's learning centre will be followed by an opportunity for lunch. In the afternoon, we will make the 3 mile (5 km) / 2 hour round walk to Sycamore Gap, led by a local expert guide from the Northumberland National Park.
