The Society is running a programme of free webinars for postgraduates throughout October and November, offering insights into different aspects of PhD life and equipping them with the skills to thrive during and after their doctoral studies.
The Postgraduate insights programme of webinars, co-organised with the Society's Postgraduate Forum, is for postgraduate geographers who are looking to get the most out of their time as a student and learn how to navigate the post-PhD world.
While aimed primarily at PhD students, master’s students interested in doctoral study and early career geographers who have recently completed their doctorates are welcome to attend.
During each of the webinars, a panel of expert speakers will answer a series of questions about a given subject. Questions from the audience are warmly encouraged.
The topics and timings of the webinars are:
New to teaching, 18 October, 1.00pm-2.00pm
Apply for grants to support your research, 25 October, 1.00pm-2.00pm
Careers outside of academia, 8 November, 1.00pm-2.00pm
Why should you join a research group?, 22 November, 1.00pm-2.00pm
The Society also offers grants for postgraduate students, as well as online resources to support postgraduates during their studies.
Our Postgraduate Forum and research groups are also a great way for doctoral students to network with other geographers with similar research interests, keep up to date with research in their area of work, and receive information on conferences, workshops, and funding opportunities.
