Arctic visions, a new exhibition by Nick Jones, the Society’s 2022 Cherry Kearton Medal and Award recipient, is now on display in the Director’s Gallery.
The exhibition immerses the viewer in the vast space and luminous light of the Arctic. Capturing a world made up of the simplest of ingredients – ice, water, rock and light – Nick’s paintings offer a point of connection with the fragile beauty of this astonishing region of our planet.
For the last four decades, Nick has persistently sought ways to evoke the endless richness of the natural world through paint on canvas. In 2018, he was artist in residence with the Friends of the Scott Polar Research Institute. His time spent in the Arctic had a profound impact on his work and inspired the paintings on display in the exhibition.
Society Fellows and Members can see the exhibition on weekdays between 10.00am and 5.00pm, until Tuesday 15 August.
