Next year's RGS-IBG Annual International Conference will be chaired by Professor Stephen Legg (University of Nottingham, UK). The conference will take place in London and online, from Wednesday 28 to Friday 30 August 2024, with pre-conference workshops and an opening plenary on Tuesday 27 August. Details, including the chair's theme, the call for sessions, papers and posters, and more, will be added on our website from mid-October 2023.
Along with the Geographical Society of Ireland (GSI) and the International Geographical Union (IGU), we are delighted that the global geographic community will have the opportunity to meet, share ideas and engage with each other in an extended conference season throughout next August.
The International Geographical Congress 2024 (IGC) will be hosted by the GSI in Dublin, Ireland, beginning with an opening ceremony on Saturday 24 August with paper sessions concluding at lunchtime on Thursday 29 August and a closing ceremony in the early afternoon. There may be some post-congress fieldtrips on Friday 30 August.
Our annual RGS-IBG conference will take place in London from Wednesday 28 to Friday 30 August with a range of exciting keynote sessions, journal events, papers and other sessions.
This coordination provides a unique opportunity for those travelling to the conferences to attend both consecutively. Through our scheduling, we will be working closely together to ensure that those who wish to participate and present in both conferences will be facilitated to do so.
As both the GSI and the Society are constituent members of the International Geographical Union, we are planning a joint hybrid event on Wednesday 28 August to bring those in attendance at the two conferences together virtually for the first time. This is an exciting opportunity for our discipline and we look forward to seeing you in Dublin, London or online to participate in this truly unique experience!
Looking ahead to AC2025
