This selection of contributions from Black geographers to the discipline marks Black History Month and sits alongside other initiatives to make more visible, explore, support and celebrate Black geographers and Black geographies.
Using our Collections, we recognise some of those, often hidden and sometimes excluded, Black geographers working as local guides or interpreters during historic exploration. We’ve also profiled contemporary Black geographers working in research, teaching, policy and public engagement and future Black geographers who are studying at university.
